Former beauty queen cum reality TV star, Nengi Rebecca Hampson has said that she prefers being called “smart” to being called “pretty”.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said it is time to restructure Nigeria, in order to ensure equitable distribution of resources.
El-Rufai stated this on Saturday, while speaking at a public lecture to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Arewa House in Kaduna.
He cited the 2018 recommendations of the All Progressives Congress (APC) committee on restructuring and noted that there was a need to reorganise the country’s constitutional framework, in order to give states more control over certain resources.
According to El-Rufai, it will “empower state governments to cease passing the buck to the president and the federal government.”
“I, therefore, call on our federal legislators and the National Assembly ad hoc committee on constitutional review to take advantage of our report and initiate the constitutional and legislative amendments in either a piece-meal or comprehensive manner without further delay.
“We, therefore, have no excuse not to seize this moment and do the heavy lifting for our country and our people.
“It is in our hands to make the structures, laws and constitutional arrangements in our country conducive to modern governance that will ensure our nation thrives in the 21st century,” El-Rufai said.
The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed that the Nigerian government is about to borrow another $3billion from China.
This is coming at a time when there are controversies trailing the Federal Government’s planned securement of $500million loan from China.
The House of Representatives had raised an alarm over clauses in Article 8 (1) of the Commercial Loan Agreement signed between Nigeria and the Export-Import Bank of China.
In the said agreement, Nigeria stands to concede her sovereignty to China should there be a default in the repayment of the $400million for the Nigerian National Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure Backbone phase 2 project signed in 2018.
Part of the agreement said that:
“The borrower hereby irrevocably provides waives any immunity on the grounds of sovereign or otherwise for itself or its property in connection with any arbitration pursuit to Article 85 thereof with the enforcement of any arbitral award pursuit thereto except for the military asset and diplomatic asset.”
However, Amaechi, while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, explained that he told the National Assembly members not to probe the loan issue too much in order not to scare the lender.
He noted that the country might lose a chance of getting another $3billion loan which the Nigerian government planned to use in executing the rail from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri.
“The reason why I said that is because we have already applied for $5.3billion to execute the rail from Ibadan to Kano. We are about applying for about $3billion to execute the rail from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri.
Amaechi, however, stated that the lawmakers approved the loans that have generated many controversies.
He wondered why the same lawmakers who approved the loan were now questioning the same loan and the terms of the loan having looked at it before.
“Don’t forget the National Assembly approved that loan. It is unconstitutional and impeachable if you take a loan without the approval of the National Assembly. So the same National Assembly that approved the loan is now questioning the same loan and the terms of the loan having looked at it before.
“If I am the lender, I will be worried. If they get worried, they will say ‘No, we will not approve the remaining loans you have applied for,” he said.
NYESOM Wike, Governor of Rivers State says the recent revelations of corruption from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) were not unexpected to him, alleging that the Commission invested N10 billion to fight against him during the last election.
“Unfortunately, they have turned it to a different thing, NDDC is a cash cow for politicians. In my own election, NDDC brought N10 billion cash to fight against me,” Wike said on Tuesday in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
He added that the NDDC has lost focus from the initial mission for which it was established for, and has become a money making machine for some corrupt politicians.
“I have said before and it is very clear, my concern is everybody knows that NDDC was set up for the development of the region,” he said.
His comments followed the ongoing probe by the National Assembly into the fraud running into billions of naira said to have been perpetrated by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the NDDC between February and May 2020.
He also accused the Commission of embarking on projects in Rivers without the consent of the state government.
“You cannot go to a state and begin to carry out projects without the permission of the state government, you don’t know what their plans are. You can’t come into my state to disturb my development plan, you must let me know,” Wike said.
According to him, technocrats, and not politicians should be placed in charge of the Commission to enable it function effectively to change the narrative of what is playing out at the moment.
While explaining the role of governors in the South-South, he said, “Under the NDDC Act, there should be a governing board made up of the governors.”
“Since 2015 we have been asking for that board, but it was only last year that the President was able to constitute a governing board. But that is just theory.”
Between February and May, investigations were launched by lawmakers to probe the alleged fraud in the NDDC while President Muhammadu Buhari also ordered that a forensic audit to be carried out on the Commission.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the President of the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan; members of the National Assembly; all governors elected on the platform of APC and other top leaders of the party are expected in Benin City, the Edo State capital this Saturday for the flag-off of the party’s governorship campaign.
As part of the preparation for the rally, President Muhammadu Buhari has invited the party’s candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu for a crucial meeting at the Villa, Abuja.
The party’s candidate, who is already in Abuja for the meeting with the president, was said to have met with members of the National Campaign Council for the Edo State governorship election on Monday night.
Those who attended the meeting including former Senate President, Dr. Ken Nnamani; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State; Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State; Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State; and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, among others.

Legendary Nigerian singer, Dr. Victor Abimbola Olaiya has finally been laid to rest.
The singer passed on at the age of 89 on the 12th of February at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) after a brief illness. Popularly known as the high life genius, he was buried on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at the Vaults & Garden Cemetery, Ikoyi, Lagos in

Alhaji Muazu Brahji, a Director, Human Resources with Yobe State Ministry of Health, has died at the state specialist hospital isolation centre in Damaturu.
A brother to the deceased, Yau Ubaliyo Abubakar, who confirmed the development to our correspondent early Wednesday, said that late Brahji was taken to the isolation facility on Tuesday.
On whether the deceased was confirmed to be positive for COVID-19 before he died, Abubakar disclosed that his sample was taken and currently awaiting the result.
Yobe is among the states without a testing centre for COVID-19; as such, most of the samples collected are taken to either Abuja or Borno for testing.
The federal government has again expressed its displeasure, over the continued disregard of the eased lockdown guidelines by Nigerians.
Speaking at the daily briefing on Wednesday, the chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, said it portends danger for the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on April 27, announced the phased and gradual easing of the lockdown would start from Monday, May 4.
Buhari also imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew nationwide.
However, the government had said that its overall assessment of compliance with the measures, leaves a lot to be desired.
Mustapha said:
“The overall assessment of compliance with the measures and outcomes of modelling we have developed, point in the direction of danger ahead. We therefore need personal discipline, increased awareness and enforcement.
“I want to reiterate the fact that our individual and collective safety is in our hands and I re-echo my call and appeal to Nigerians to demonstrate our duty to ourselves and loved ones by minimising the risk of getting infected by the virus.”

Recall that Kemi had claimed that Kanu died and was buried with many of IPOB supporters bashing her on Twitter.
